Creative Writing classes that children LOVE!
Does your child need help with Creative Writing?
We promise to take your child on imaginative adventures: encountering fantasy creatures, fleeing from volcanoes, exploring deserted islands, chatting to a penguin on the steps of the New York library…anything can happen!
The most important thing to us is that children enjoy writing. We build up their confidence with lots of positivity, encouragement and a growth mindset approach. Mistakes are seen as a part of the learning process, and our small group setting means that children are supporting each other too. This is combined with optional homework tasks, additional resources to support learning and written progress reports three times per year, so you know exactly how your child is progressing in writing.
“My kids can’t wait for the classes and want to keep writing even after the class is finished!”

Early Writers
6-7 year olds
These groups are for emerging young writers and will ensure your child loves writing from the beginning!
We will play games, laugh and have lots of fun exploring imaginative ideas and beginning to structure a story.
For this class your child needs to be able to write at least one sentence on their own.
Aspiring Authors
7-9 year olds
These groups are for children who already have basic writing skills, but need support to pull it all together and to develop their writing style.
This is also a great age for reluctant writers to gain confidence and discover their enjoyment of writing.
For this class your child should be able to write at least a paragraph independently.
Wonderful Writers
9-11 year olds
These groups are for children who can already write a whole story with a beginning, middle and end.
Children will enhance their writing skills, learn how to edit and improve their writing, expand their vocabulary and experiment with figurative language techniques. We will compose fiction of various genres, as well as deepening our knowledge of non-fiction text types and poetry – all in a fun and creative way!
Brilliant Bookworks
11-12 year olds
These lessons are created for students ready to delve into diverse aspects of English. Students will enhance their reading and analytical skills through studying a variety of texts, including novels, plays and poetry from different genres and historical periods. They’ll develop their creative and non-fiction writing abilities, focusing on grammar, punctuation and effective communication.
In addition, students will engage in discussions, improving their spoken English and listening skills. This comprehensive course aims to foster a love of reading and writing, making learning both fun and enriching!
Literacy Legends
12-14 year olds
These sessions are created for students eager to explore more complex texts and refine their analytical skills. Students will enhance their ability to critically evaluate literature, comparing themes and characters across a wide range of texts. They’ll advance their creative and non-fiction writing, taking it to the next level by focusing on sophisticated language use and technical accuracy. Through engaging discussions around fascinating topics, such as moral issues and social contexts, students will develop their oral communication. The overall aim of this course is to deepen their love of language in an enjoyable environment.

Home Education
Sofia made a ‘Gruffalo Crumble’ after we used the structure of The Gruffalo to write our own stories, designed our own terrible creatures and wrote revolting recipes.
Home Education
5-16 year olds
Our small groups for Creative Writing are extremely popular with home educating families due to our nurturing, individualised approach.
New line: Classes are always kept small: groups of 3-5 for Primary classes and up to 6 for Secondary. Hannah assesses the needs of each family before they join a class, and a trial lesson is encouraged to ensure the group is a good fit for your child’s current ability level. The last thing we want is to damage their confidence!
Hannah has been working with the home ed community since 2016, so you are in safe hands!

Many Worldschoolers attend our Creative Writing classes. We’ve had children joining from Montenegro, Turkey, Morocco, Bali, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Japan!
Although most worldschooling families choose to attend long-term, we also understand your unique need for flexibility – if you’d like to dip in and out of our class blocks, please contact us to discuss your plans. We will be happy to help!
Children from Hong Kong, China and UAE attend to our small group classes year round. Parents find that our coverage of England’s National Curriculum compliments what their children are studying in international schools, and really appreciate our written progress reports and marking.
